For the 2017-2018 school year, Tiger Atheltics will feature stories on student-athletes and coaches to get an in-depth look at the Tiger program. Today we feature our high school football head coach Desean Washington.
How are you feeling going into your 4th year as head coach of the football program?
Well going into my 4th year as Head Coach, I feel as if we have now really established a program. There has always been football here at Warrensville, but for a while there was not a program. I feel we are at a place where we can now be a threat for league titles and compete week in week out. I also feel that because we now have a program establish, this should hold steady on a yearly basis.
What are your goals for the upcoming 2017 football season?
Going into every season our goals are to win all our games at home. Play well and win games on the road, win our conference, and make the State Playoffs; in that order.
What should Tiger fans look forward to seeing on the field this season?
Fans should look forward to seeing a very exciting offense with plenty of play-makers and a tough hard nose defense that is going to give you 110% every Friday night.
How has the team responded after the tough loss week 1 at Norwayne High School?
On the following Monday, the young men watched film and were able to see some of the mistakes that were made that cost us the game. They practiced well this week and they were really paying more attention to detail. In the end, week 1 is over for us and week 2 will be the focus.
What would you like to say to the Tiger supporters out there?
I would like to thank all those who support Warrensville football, and that they have more of an impact on the team’s performance. So continue to support and stay encouraging.
