The boys basketball team continued their great play with a win versus Gilmour Academy, the 3rd seed in the Garfield district. The Tigers were riding high coming into the game after beating #2 seed Elyria Catholic on the road. The boys started off fast as they jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter. Sha’Mar Latham knocked down 3 of his 4 three pointers in the first quarter. The Tigers never looked back as they went on to secure their spot in the district championship game with a final score of 71-61. Leading the way for the Tigers was Brandon Rush with 26 points and 6 rebounds, Sha’Mar Latham added 19 points and 7 rebounds, and Joseph Vallery with 14 points and 8 rebounds. The Tigers advance to the District Championship game to face Villa-Angela Saint Joseph in a rematch from last year’s district semifinal game. The Vikings are a familiar foe of the Tigers as both teams faced off in the District Championship game in 2014. The game will be played this Friday at Garfield Heights High School. Tip off is at 7pm.
